The wedding of a Ballerina to an officer of the Royal Marines could be from a Hollywood film or a children’s fairytale – on this occasion it was of Emily to Gareth at St Lukes Church, Grayshott with reception at Ramster. In the spirit of all great fairytales it was a magically emotional day.

Jess & Will

This Saturday was spent photographing Jess and Will’s unique wedding in London. It was a real Notting Hill affair starting the day with Jess and her bridesmaids at the Guest House West. The service was held at the Marylebone Registry Office, and a route-master bus (where father of the bride quietly rehearsed his speech) then transported the wedding party to Portobello Roads Fat Badger pub. The whole day had a relaxed and personal feel about it – the bridesmaids each chose their own dresses and the pub was decorated with bunting and beautiful wild flowers – and of course Jessica looked effortlessly stunning. It was great photographing in London again…

Clare & Tom

Clare & Tom were married at the beautiful Elvetham Hotel in Hampshire – not even the British summer could spoil their wonderfully emotional occasion. Though most of the day was spent indoors the weather broke as dusk begin to set in, so we took the opportunity to head into the Elvethams gardens for photographs. Here’s a sneak peak at a few of the images from the day.

Clare & Guy

It was a real honour to photograph Clare and Guy’s wedding – both are serving in the RAF as were many of their guests. The sword party and other uniformed guests displayed an array of medals which is very humbling when you consider how these have been earned.

Clare & Guy were married in Wheatley near Oxford before heading off to the Crazy Bear in nearby Stadhampton. The Crazy Bear is a fairly unique venue – it’s a restaurant/hotel set in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside with a Bedouin tent feel serving exquisite Thai food!

Guy is a very keen and very good photographer, Clare allowed him to ask one photography question in the evening(!) which was regarding the final image below – it shows what you can do in low light situations with ISO 3200 and a 50mm f1.2 lens picking up ambient light. For those that don’t get the technical stuff it’s a picture taken in near pitch black night without using a flash! Here’s a sneak peak of a few images from their wedding day.

Gate Street Barn

I met Hayley and Nick at Gate Street Barn where they’re getting married in early October – it’s one of the most local venues to Hayley, Nick and myself – coincidently we live on the same road in Godalming! Gate Street Barn is set in a beautifully rural part of Surrey and strictly speaking there are no images of the actual venue below! However, we did make great use of the surrounding fields, woods and lanes. The contrast of colours in October should be startling.

Chloe & Steve

Chloe and Steve were married at the Georgian Hotel in Haslemere, Hampshire. To say that all weddings are unique is an understatement for Chloe and Steve, they absolutely did it their way. Chloe’s dad explained during his speech the reasons behind Chloe’s love of skulls, skeletons and black, it was a childhood watching Dracula! From skull jewellery, shoes, ring box (see below!), cufflinks, wine glass – Chloe made her impression on a wonderfully unique day.

Sue & Dan

Yesterday took me back to Greyfriars for the wedding of Sue and Dan. Last time I was at Greyfriars we were just coming out of winter and the weather was temporamental, but yesterday the sun shone all day and we were able to make full use of the venue for photographs – one thing I love about this venue is the endless possibilities for great shots – inside and out! One of my favourite places for photographs is not an obvious one and is slightly behind the scenes – upstairs there is a long dark, atmospheric corridor with rustic wooden floorboards and a window at one end that throws in the most amazing bright light creating fantastic sillouettes. I’ve indulged myself and posted three of these shots below.

Oxford

Oxford is one of England’s most beautiful cities and one of my favourite, though I am slightly biased as I grew up there! It was great to return to meet Clare and Guy for their pre-wedding shoot, they’re getting married at The Crazy Bear near Oxford in August. The wedding day is going to be unique involving a special venue, uniforms, swords, helicopter pilots and a big red bus – it’s going to be a photographic feast! At this time of year Oxford is jammed with tourists so we had an 8am start to beat the masses, great commitment from Clare and Guy who were paryting at a ball until 2am the morning of the shoot! It didn’t show as they look fantastic in the images below…
